Description
The Cash Flow Tracking workbook is a budget and cash flow tracker spreadsheet (for Google Sheets or Excel) that helps you plan your spending, see where your money actually goes each month and project where your cash flow is headed over the next 10 years.
Build your budget (monthly and annual)
Start with 150+ built-in categories, from gross pay and bonuses to everyday spending, and rename or remove any that don’t fit. Set a monthly amount for each category. The Annual Budget then totals your plan for the whole year, so you can see what you expect to spend before the year starts.
Built by a CPA and CFP®, this cash flow tracking sheet uses tax-optimized budget categories and tracks pay information in detail so that you can use this information for tax filing and planning purposes as well.
Track your cash flow in one spreadsheet
- Monthly Reports. Budget vs. actual for every month, January through December.
- Cash Flow Overview. Your whole year at a glance, month by month.
- Annual Cash Flow and Annual Summary. Where your money went this year, by category.
- Saving Rate. The share of your income you’re actually keeping.
- Emergency Fund. How your emergency fund compares to what you really spend.
- 10-Year Cash Flow. Where your cash flow is headed, based on your own assumptions.
To track your spending, you can export from your favorite budgeting app, use Tiller to automatically pull in transaction data, or use my MYMM Sync for YNAB add-on to automatically pull category information from YNAB. Or, you can manually enter your transaction data if you prefer.

Before you buy

Frequently asked questions
- Do I need the whole Personal Finance Bundle?
No. This workbook works on its own. It’s the second of nine workbooks in the Personal Finance Bundle, which also covers financial goals, taxes, insurance, investing, retirement, college and estate planning. They all link together if you want the full picture (linking this to the Federal & State Income Tax sheet is the most popular!). - I already use YNAB. Do I need this?
YNAB is great for giving every dollar a job this month (I’ve used it for over 10 years!). This workbook adds the bigger picture: your annual totals, budgeted amounts, your saving rate and a 10-year view. - Should I use Google Sheets or Excel?
Both versions are included (even if you order the Google Sheets version). - Do I need a new workbook each year?
No. Make a copy of the spreadsheet each year and update your information. There are no subscription or other ongoing costs.
